Tonight Kyle and Kyle and special guest Ken Maxey discuss the mind boggling Fez, how long is too long for a game, DOOM 3’s 10th Anniversary, and look to play another 10 year old classic in the coming weeks. All this and more (Risk of Rain)!

State of the Podcast
We’re looking buying new cameras for the live stream so the video quality will hopefully improve. We’ll most likely have two more Zero(point) episodes and then roll out official episodes complete with audio only versions if you prefer to listen to the show that way. Not much else is new this week, so enjoy the show and don’t forget to join us next week!

Cheers!

Join the Kyles this week as we talk more DOOM, kickflips in OlliOlli, how to pronounce Anachronox, Google’s cool billion spent on twitch, and of course Risk of Rain. All this and MORE!!!!!

State of the Podcast
Things are coming along nicely. Kyle and I have loosened up a little bit and are starting to have fun with everything (not bad for the third show!). Video quality is still lacking though. If this persist, we have decided that we will either find a better video format or go to strictly audio. What that will mean for interacting with us live i don’t know but we’ll see. Also because this is recorded live, between 39:00 and 45:00 we take a break so that I can tend to an upset child. if only I had a technical difficulties slide i could throw in there……

On the Horizon
We record next week so be on the lookout if you’d like to join in and chat. Kyle and I plan to record a video of some Risk of Rain. and release it soon. Overall, I’d say maybe a few more of these “Zero(point)” episodes and we’ll be ready to go full blown live. Hope you’re enjoying them because I know we sure are!

Cheers!

This week we discuss old school FPS’s, Risk of Rain again, and DOOMBOTS!!!! (whatever those are) Plus we dive deep into the Yogsventure! debacle and Doom….BOTS!!!!

What’s the state of the podcast?
Things are still ramping up! We’ve bought some new equipment to sound better but unfortunately our internet connection was not the greatest this week. Bummer. Video wise you’ll notice it’s like watching a slide show. Audio dips more often than wanted and Kyle M’s mic gain was a little high. But that’s why this is Episode Zero(point)One and not Episode One. Technical issues aside this is a beefy episode that’s packed full of conversation. So sit back, enjoy, and let us know what you think!

What’s on the horizon?
We plan to record again this Sunday so if you want to watch us live and chat check Google+ or my Twitter to find out when we will record. Kyle and I are working diligently to improve the show by trimming the fat (conversations that drag on) and tweaking the format so that there is less awkward silences and more coherent and meaningful conversations. As far as quality, I unfortunately can’t make my connection any better during high bandwidth times but if doing this over Google Hangouts on Air becomes too troublesome, I guarantee we’ll find a better way to do this. That aside I hope you’re enjoying the show and we can’t wait to give you more!

Cheers!

Tonight we test our new podcast over Google Hangouts, talk early access, pre-order bonuses, Rise of the Triad, Risk of Rain, You Don’t Know Jack, and much more!!

What is Extra Lives?
Extra Lives is an all new video game podcast brought to you by Kyle McCauley and Kyle Penrod (formally of The Backwards Compatible Podcast) where we get down to the nitty gritty and absolute fun that is the wonderful world of games.

Why Episode Zero?
Great question anonymous stranger! While we’re frothing at the mouth to start this podcast, we don’t quite have everything we need just yet. So we figured why not release a half baked product in it’s place until we are ready! When everything is said and done we’ll be recording every week (probably Saturday evenings) via Google Hangouts On Air and releasing both a video version (similar to the one above) and a tired and true audio version of the podcast via our website (forthcoming) and of course at the ol’ CarpeGM.net because we love those guys! Until then feel free to join us in the chat while live on the air (via Google+) every week and let us know what you think!

Cheers!
Kyle

Kyle & David take a look at Double Fine’s Kickstarter success story “Broken Age,” the first point and click adventure game from mastermind Tim Schafer in 16 years!

Broken Age is a timeless coming-of-age story of barfing trees and talking spoons. Vella Tartine and Shay Volta are two teenagers in strangely similar situations, but radically different worlds. The player can freely switch between their stories, helping them take control of their own lives, and dealing with the unexpected adventures that follow.  Broken Age began two years ago in a historic, record-breaking Kickstarter campaign. Now it’s here in all its beautiful, 2D, hand-painted glory, with an original orchestral soundtrack and an all-star vocal cast.
